Mary S. Yamin-Garone is a freelance writer and editor for business and government. She specializes in health and fitness, business, finance, construction and senior care. Ms. Yamin-Garone also has worked as a writer and editor for the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, the New York State Bar Association and currently for the Cleaning Industry Research Institute.

In 2002 she was cited for her work following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. She received Communication Concepts Award for Publication Excellence for Magazine and Newspaper Writing.

After her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease (AD) Ms. Yamin-Garone became an advocate for Alzheimer's research. She has been recognized by the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York for her fund-raising efforts having raised nearly $15,000 for this cause. She also provides in-home companionship to senior citizens many of whom suffer from AD.

Ms. Yamin-Garone earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Journalism from the State University of New York at Albany. This grandmother of nine enjoys running, weight lifting, non-contact boxing, reading and Bruce Springsteen.
